Welcome to the web site of Rockford Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota!

We are a small but mighty group (24 members) of musicians who are active in many areas of Rockford’s musical life. Our members are teachers at every level of music education, both public and private. We also participate in programs of the Mendlessohn Performing Arts Center, Svea Soner Swedish Chorus, Rockford Flute Club, Rockford Music Academy and Rock Valley College Community Band and Orchestra.

We have a monthly meeting with a musicale provided by members.  Guests are very welcome. Please contact President Barbara Simon through the web site email.

Programs for 2010 are:

Feb. 15, 7:00 p.m. at Rosecrance Center with a program on music therapy.
Mar. 14, 3:00 p.m. in Hinsdale. A concert given by the Salt Creek Sinfonietta featuring music by SAI composers.
Mar. 15, 7:00 p.m. at the home of Marilyn Cade with a program given by pianist Marilyn Cade.
Mar. 27, Get-to-gether with Beta Mu at the home of Sherry Dreyfuss. We will be collecting music for a fundraising sale at NIU. Time is TBA.
Apr. 17 Province Day at NIU.
Apr. 19 7:00 p.m. Formal Meeting at the home of Fern Armstrong with program given by Sherry Dreyfuss and Barbara Simon.
May 17, 7:00 p.m. Meeting at the home of Sherry Dreyfuss with a program of piano duets given by Dr. Rosalie Sward and Mary Phillips.
June 21, 12 noon. Salad luncheon at the home of Martha Dahlberg with a program given by Elizabeth O’Leary.

Please get in touch if you are in the Rockford area and would like to join the Chapter. Dues are $25/year. Membership in the National Alumnae Association would also be required. We would love to meet you!
